Rules

The Rules are divided into three core concepts;
FRIENDLY, FAIR, and FUN.
If what you're doing falls outside the scope of those ideals, you may be in violation.
See below the comprehensive written rules we should all strive to follow.

1: FRIENDLY

WE encourage our members, staff, and admins to be friendly and sociable. Players don't all have to be best friends with each other, but we need to be universally kind, civil, and polite. The rules and guidelines set forth in this section help clarify the details of what constitutes as acceptable behavior for everyone in our community.

1A - Language

Use kind language to communicate with other players, staff, and admins. Keep cursing to a minimum. Do NOT spam the chat or spam other players with unwanted, unnecessary, or excessive messages. Do NOT promote anything that may be harmful to others. Do NOT send malicious or misleading URLs.

1B - Inclusivity

Be inclusive and respectful of other players. Hate speech, offensive symbols, sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, religious discrimination, or any other type of harmful discrimination WILL NOT BE TOLERATED and have no place in this community.

1C - Harassment

Do NOT intentionally harass other players, staff, or admins. Harassment in this case is defined as any behavior which is repeated and unwanted. Aggressive, rude, and inappropriate behavior is a direct violation of The Rules. If you are asked to stop, then stop immediately. No means NO.

1D - Griefing

Do NOT intentionally deface, damage, or destroy another person's building or the surrounding area without their express permission. Do NOT carelessly destroy the wilderness or natural landscapes. More detailed information can be found in Section 3.

2: FAIR

WE strive to ensure that everyone's experience on our server is fair. Every player deserves equal opportunities for success and progression, without unfair advantages. The rules and guidelines set forth in this section help to clarify the details of what constitutes fair play for everyone in our community.

2A- Progression

Progression, ranks, and privileges will never be gated behind any real-world monetary payment. This includes systems like Votifier and unreasonable ad placement. Donations to keep the server running are entirely optional and will never provide any individual in-game incentives. Additionally, staff and moderators are required to progress through the game and rank systems the same as other players. Staff and moderators are prohibited from using their moderation tools to, in any way, gain an unfair advantage over other players.

Do NOT ask or beg for in-game items, money, ranks, etc. Do NOT attempt to circumvent in-game progression systems. Do NOT buy, sell, or trade in-game items or money for real-world items or money. This can include the transfer of ownership of your Minecraft login details. In the event of a transfer of ownership it is advised that our admin team resets the player's account to a default state.

2B- Cheating/Exploiting/Modding

Do NOT make modifications to your game such that you have an unreasonable unfair advantage over other players. What is defined as a reasonable modification may vary considerably over time, so players who wish to make modifications to their game must ensure they comply with our "Acceptable Mods List" (link needed). Optifine, specifically, is universally permitted on our servers. Resource packs that alter the appearance and sounds of the game locally are also permitted, excepting those that are designed in such a way that a player is allowed to see through part or all of blocks that are typically opaque, or "x-ray".

Do NOT abuse glitches in the game, such as item or block duplication, or "x-ray". Creative use of game mechanics is allowed, such as nearly all kinds of mob farms. Do NOT abuse exploits in the economy system or other plugin systems. Report exploits to our admins, staff, or moderation team.

2C- Scamming/Lying

Do NOT attempt to intentionally scam other players. This includes misrepresenting items in a sale or trade, or not holding up your end of a proposed sale or trade.

1: Be Kind to Other Players

We don't expect you to be friends with everyone, but you need to at least treat them with respect. If you don't get along with another player, accept your differences and move along. All players have access to the /ignore command and are welcome to use it however they see fit. This also ties into Rule 2. If another player is bothering you, please use /helpop or send us an email admin@alphawolfserver.com.

2: No Griefing, No Lag Machines, No Claim Blocking

Players are capable of doing or creating anything on the server, but we ask players to avoid creating contraptions that create large amounts of lag or are purposely disruptive to other players. Avoid building nearby other players without their permission, try to keep the landscape looking nice and clean, and don't block a player's access to their own houses or buildings. Do not abuse the land claiming system to block a player from being able to expand their existing claim within reason - we take these cases very seriously and reserve the right to permanently remove any claims or structures that are deemed in violation of this rule.

That being said, all unprotected and unclaimed areas ARE public and open. Unclaimed chests are not protected by our rules and any player can take their contents without consequence. Make sure that you use GriefPrevention to place claims around chests and buildings you wish to protect. Be careful who you allow into your land claims, since staff cannot refund items or materials taken by players you give access to your land.

We are all about being friends, just make sure your friends have the same idea as you do about what's gonna be fun to do. Accidents happen, and we understand that, but repetitive, unwanted, aggressive behavior will not be tolerated. Not everyone wants you to pour lava on their wooden house - not everyone finds that kind of trolling funny.

3: Don't Spam

Sending tons and tons of messages to the public chat, or even tons of private messages, can be overwhelming and annoying. We will warn you if you start to get carried away. If the behavior is not corrected we will escalate consequences (warn, mute, tempban, permban). Repetitive advertisement is also restricted under this rule. If you want to share a link or talk about another server, that's OKAY here, as long as it's not done maliciously or repetitively. If you're unsure, ask.

Generally ALL CAPS, excessive cursing, key spamming, and related actions are uncool. One all caps message when you lose all your stuff next to lava in the nether 5000 blocks away from your house? That's fine... we get it... also... oof.

4: No Hacking, Cheating, or Exploiting

Our server is designed to be reasonable and fair to all players. Any form of hacking or abuse of exploits is forbidden. We do allow modded clients to connect, but users are only allowed to have certain types of mods installed. We have an acceptable mods list available HERE with links for download. Mods like Optifine are always okay.

If you find an exploit related to a command or plugin that we have enabled, please report it to the staff. We greatly appreciate it <3

4: Do Not Scam Other Players or Pretend to be an Admin or Moderator

Anyone pretending to be an admin or moderator is subject to being banned. Do not attempt to trick or scam other players. Any such offenses, especially those that result in damages (destroyed property, lost money, lost items) are taken very seriously. Our moderators are marked with an obvious [MOD] next to their name and our admins are marked with an [A]. In the process of an investigation we will never ask for you to pay us, hand us items, or give us access to your land claims - we can do these things ourselves through our moderation plugins without your intervention.

5: Keep the World Beautiful, Build Away from Spawn

This is an extension of Rule 2. We ask that players do their best to build things that everyone can enjoy. Builds things that enhance the world. If you're new at the game, or don't think that you're the best at building, that's okay. We're not going to judge your house on a five star scale and come knock it down if it's not good enough. We just want to avoid clear low-effort builds and ugly structures, e.g. dirt houses, 1x1 towers, floating treetops, massive creeper holes, random water and lava, etc.

We also ask that players spread out and avoid building directly next to each other without permission.

2: Absolutely No Discriminatory Language or Offensive Symbols

We do not tolerate sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, religious discrimination, or any other type of harmful discrimination. We will not tolerate hate speech or offensive symbols or depictions anywhere on the server. Any player is free to report violations and we take all claims seriously.

, Don't Nag the Staff

Do not nag other players, moderators, or admins. Do not ask for ranks, free items, permissions, etc. We're not a charity, we don't hand out items and levels just because you asked, we don't spawn in stuff for free. Moderators don't have access to creative mode and can't spawn in items. If you want something, get off your butt and work for it. There's plenty of ways to obtain all that you could ever want (in fact, our admin stores are pretty generous), you don't need us to hand it to you for free. If you want that, go play in the creative world.

If an item is genuinely glitched, or you've been scammed, we WILL do a full investigation. Do not lie to staff.

8: Admin's Word is Final

Moderators and Admins are the final leg of the conflict resolution process and of all rule violation investigations. Players may be given the ability to appeal a decision (and we are very lenient in most cases), but once the ban hammer has spoken, that word is final. We recommend that players try to resolve their differences among themselves before involving the server administration team. Admins may expand or make judgements beyond the scope of these rules, but will generally stick to what's posted on this page or expand this section as necessary. If you think a Moderator is abusing their power or has handed down an unfair decision, please submit an appeal for Admin review.
